about

Recorded live in March 2012 at Belgenny Farm in Camden, NSW. This was from a festival performance during the early A Tower of Silence era.

The Belgenny Farm show was a spectacularly disastrous attempt to bring live music to the semi-rural town Camden, where we played outdoors on a scorching hot summers day for 90 minutes to a fairly modest sized, mostly non-partisan audience who were all trying to stay in the shade beneath the trees around the sides of the park, and even then only half of them - at best - had ever heard of us. This unfortunately left a large open space in front of the stage. We’d decided to record the show as we’d tried for ages to get a decent concert recording. The performance is very strong but the audience is heard only through the vocal mics and they were all standing a long way from the stage, trying to keep out of the sun.

Waterfall had been a popular song back in the early days and was always enjoyable to play live, yet was retired after this show in order to make room for more of the newer material from A Tower of Silence.

lyrics

All my broken dreams
My final daylight scene
I slaved away my days
As the skin peeled away
I tried to hold my own
When they stood on me

Take me to a place where the pain fades away
The insanity breaks and I fade to grey

So as I lie back in the water
Why fight it anymore?
The night decides to grin
as the pain begins
I scream across the air
But no-one's answering

I think of my sister
What will she grow to be
I say goodbye to my mother
What must she think of me?

Thrashing and turning
Bleeding and burning
Dark and alone
Flesh, Water and Bone
I can hear you cry but I can't see the sky
From the water above me, it will not free me
As I find my way down
